Sneaker of the Year 2008
Sneaker of the Year 2008! The votes are in and the streets, catalogs, and shelves have been scanned. Look to see who made the 'Slickest of the Slick List' and ultimately who really came out with 2008's Sneaker of the Year.
Already on the list for one of the hottest sneaker styles, Lakai releases the Telford once again in a blazing colorway sure to turn heads. Lakai is known for making durable skate shoes but you don't have to be a skater to wear these. With a retro look and bold color, you will get more than just a few looks wearing these out on the streets. In my opinion, these would be great kicks for the dance floor. Black with royal blue is very sharp and bold. Experimenting with these kicks on the street, I did get more than a few awes in my direction. Try these out in your neighborhoods. Lakai took a tried model and gave it a fresh electric makeover. Very simple chic.More »

2. Stussy X Nike X Neighborhood Terminator Highs (black/white colorway)
From the Boneyards Collection, comes one of the sweetest collaborations to date. The Nike Terminator Highs in black and white came head to head with Lakai for this year's 2008 Sneaker of the Year title. These are super old school revamped, so ultra fresh in simplicity, and super sharp in overall style. Not to mention, the clean detailing throughout the upper and even in the replacement of Nike's standard swoosh logo. Though these sneakers are offered in more than one colorway, the black and white ones are what really make the grade.More »3. Nike SB Dunk ‘Marge Simpson’
There are tons of Dunks to choose from for this one, but the Nike SB Dunk ‘Marge Simpson’ captures possibly the coolest color scheme put out by the brand on the planet. I'm not kidding. It makes no difference what they are called or in tribute to who or what, these Dunks are super fresh and exquisitely electric by design. One thing I would do to make these perfect is change the soles to white, but that can simply be done with a white paint marker at home. These reflect the perfect color combination in my eyes for candy bold kicks that make the eyes flip. Though released strictly in the Asian market, a savvy surfer should be able to locate them on the web. The Marge Simpsons would look absolutely blazing with dark denim.More »4. Puma MITA Clyde

With only 185 pairs produced, they were released on January 2nd for 18,900 yen (approx. $208 USD).More »5. Adidas Forums Hellboy Editions
Alright, so what was I thinking here? I've never seen the Hellboy movie, so that's irrelevant to the style case. When I look at these I think retro slick right away. Robotic, bionic, electronic, pop lockin' and breaking it down on the dancefloor! If you have ever seen the movie, Breakin', then you know what I mean. These are golden gems for those that know style. The Hellboy Forums are super hot in Egypt where kids are wearing them in all the malls. The bold gold, red, and black surely do something for them. And me. These rock!More »6. Nike “Be True” Vintage Dunks - Iowa
Black and yellow resonates a different kind of slick - sexy slick. One of the most visible Nike colorways found on today's city streets is the yellow and black combo. It's a hot winning color scheme and it can be found all over the place: in streetwear, music videos, the runways, and design magazines. The Nike “Be True” campaign launched the Iowa Dunks as the grand finale of its series. Though only a small number were ever released, you can find this color scheme under different names under the Dunk model. If you liked the Wu-Tang Dunks that are so hard to find these days, then take a black paint marker to these and turn them into killer bees.More »7. Vans SK8 Hi Vert Pro Hosoi

The first edition pack released by Hosoi and Vans is even slicker. If the Supreme X Vans X Bad Brains black SK8 Highs with the lightning bolts were dropped this year, then they would have claimed #7, or #2.8. Adidas ZX Racer (yellow/ black or blue/white colorway)
The Adidas ZX Racer takes us back to the basics. Standard old school coolness is eternally timeless in the style department. These are as simple as sneakers come and possess an around-the-clock versatility that makes them an instant favorite. It's a toss up between the black and yellow ones and these royal blue and white ones. Either way, these are here to stay on several 'Slickest of the Slick Lists' to come!More »9. Saucony Floorlords "Courageous" (black/white/red colorway)
Developed in collaboration with the hip hop dance troupe the FloorLords from Boston, the Saucony X Floorlords collaboration is ultra stellar. When they first came out on the east coast they were very hard to score. They were considered super exclusive and even if you asked someone wearing them where they got them from, they would act like you needed some kind of password to be told the secret. Well, the real secret was these were made in super limited quantites that the only people that had real access to them were the members of the Floorlords themselves. Now available online at select retailers, the Floorlords collabo is within your reach. To check them out the infamous east coast pop lockers, vist: www.floorlords.com.10.
