These completed hours must include six semester hours of English, eight semester hours of both inorganic and organic chemistry, eight semester hours of physics, three semester hours of biochemistry, three semester hours of statistics and 14 semester hours of biology, with 12 of those hours from lecture and two from laboratory. Most undergraduates fulfill the semester hour requirements as part of a completed undergraduate degree before applying.

    Suggested Undergraduate Coursework

While no specific majors of study are required, most applicants major in a field of biological science.

    Admission Materials

    • Baylor College of Dentistry requires the completion of the Dental Admission Test (DAT) during the spring or summer before applying. With this application, the student must submit official transcripts as well as personal references. A secondary application submitted to the Texas Medical & Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) is also required.

    Additional Qualifications

    • The admission committee for Baylor College of Dentistry primarily evaluates the applicant's grade point average (GPA) and DAT score. However, the committee also considers other factors when choosing an applicant for admission. Community service, a strong personal statement within the application, leadership positions and personal history can play an important role. The admissions committee might select an applicant for a required interview to get a better picture of the candidate's overall qualifications.

    Requirements upon Acceptance

    • Once accepted into the Baylor College of Dentistry, students must pass a drug screening test as well as a criminal background check.
