How to Make a Dart Gun Without Straws
- 1). Unscrew the top off of a 6-inch long ballpoint pen. Remove the ink cartridge and point assembly from inside of the ballpoint pen. Screw the top back onto the ballpoint pen.
- 2). Hold the ballpoint pen vertically with the point facing down. Use a utility knife to make a hole in the top end of the ballpoint pen.
- 3). Put a newspaper down on a table. Put the ballpoint pen down horizontally on the newspaper. Place an inside edge of the rubber band against the hole at the top end of the ballpoint pen. Wrap duct tape around the end of the ballpoint pen where it meets the rubber band.
- 4). Use scissors to cut 2 inches off of the back end of a plastic dart. Insert the plastic dart into the open hole of the ballpoint pen, back end first.
- 5). Hold the ballpoint pen in your left hand. Raise the end of the ballpoint pen up so that the dart falls down to where the rubber band is duct-taped to the ballpoint pen.
- 6). Grab the dart and the rubber band with the thumb and forefinger of your right hand. (Reverse this for lefties.) Aim the front end of the ballpoint pen at a target. Release the rubber band and the dart to fire the dart from the dart gun you have made toward the target.
