How to Position Tie Backs for Curtains
- 1). Determine the overall length of your curtains. If your curtains reach the floor, they are long curtains. If your curtains reach a point above the floor, they are shorter curtains.
- 2). Place the yardstick on the floor at an outside edge of the window below the point where you will attach the tieback. Measure up to a point that is approximately 10 inches above the windowsill for shorter curtains. Make a small mark at this point on the wall. For longer curtains, note the point where the windowsill is and make a small mark at this point on the wall.
- 3). Move the yardstick to the other outside edge of the window below the point where you will attach the tieback. Measure to the same point you measured on the first side of the window and make similar marks on this side of the window.
- 4). Screw the hooks in to the wall at the points you marked in steps two and three.
- 5). Attach the tiebacks by looping one end onto the hook, surrounding the curtain with the tieback and looping the other end onto the hook.
- 6). Arrange the curtain above the tieback so it protrudes slightly with extra fullness.
