Cystic Acne Scar Removal

Cystic acne is one of the severe types of acne.
This type of acne almost always leaves a scar on the affected area.
The scar usually takes a long time to heal and at times can leave pits and permanent marks on the skin.
They also span across a wide area of the skin.
To avoid deep scarring, prevention is the best cure.
Never should the acne affected areas of the skin be touched or picked with hand.
Scar creams can be used to treat cystic acne scars, but if the scar is deep spanning across several layers of the skin, then the topical creams and gels that promise instant cure could be of little help.
It would be necessary to resort to other treatment methods like microdermabrasion, chemical peel, laser resurfacing etc.
Before resorting to any treatment, one should understand that our skin has the natural ability to heal and rejuvenate itself.
Every day, the top most part of our skin wears off and new layers below keep surfacing above.
Hence, mild scars will be removed over time by itself.
For deep scars, like the ones left behind by cystic acne, additional treatments would be recommended that would scrape out many levels of the outer layers of the skin and hence speed up the natural skin rejuvenation process.
In scar removal treatments, usually many layers of skin spanning several layers will be removed, depending on the nature of the treatment and the severity of the scarring.
Hence, appropriate protection needs to be used as removal of skin layers can result in infection and increased sensitivity to the sun's UV light.
One should however be well informed of the merits and demerits of the best treatments for acne scar removal and consult a dermatologist before choosing the treatment that is right for you.
