How Leaders Turn Negative Experiences to Positive Opportunities
Most often this situation comes about from decision makers taking a simplistic approach to a problem; that in lots of cases comes from not taking action coming from the decision makers themselves! In many instances the decision maker discussed in this writing are decision makers with political stature.
It is important for the future leader to recognize that the more influential the position such as: a CEO, President, Vice President or high level managers the more political the state of affairs of a particular position.
What this means is that the more political a position the more difficult it will be for a leader to initiate change because of the politics taking place which often times negatively impacts positive or meaningful growth.
Leaders must remember that the best way to bring about positive change in a particular company and/or organization is to convert negative predicaments to opportunities.
Many times we hear of people heads beginning to roll without taking a serious look at the problem and instituting corrective action measures in order to prevent the same mistake from happening again.
It is not the people who have brought an organization to complete ruins, but rather the decision makers failing to take on the aspects of execution and implementation of programs.
As we learn from our mistakes creative leaders know how to reorganize become innovative and start to set in motion new standards of organizational accountability.
As leaders begin to investigate the obstacles to reach success it is critical that they form a modeling image of themselves which they will incorporate so that others will want to follow and desire to emulate.
Image the failures of great events that have made a significant influence upon many of us.
For example, stop and think of the various failure attempts of space exploration.
In my view had we stopped to proceed further because of the failures we would have never gone forth with the great space program and advancements currently taking place.
It has left influences that has impacted us positively in a myriad of industries; the list to long for this writing.
Great leaders do and must have a perspective that no one is perfect and that people make mistakes and so it is of essence that leaders take action that is going to benefit everyone while at the same time continue to lead by example and "walk the talk".
Most often problems come about by the failure to listen.
Listen to those whom have brought the news that as Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
once said "that if something isn't done and done in a hurry the whole world is doomed".
In my view doctor King was talking about the ability to listen, take action and execute with a heart.
The important factor to keep in mind is that a leader must be a people person and must have a great sense of humility in order to express appreciation and have the ability to connect with the common sense person.
As leaders are confronted with issues and problematic execution of program development; efforts must be made in relationship building in developing an environment that is filled with camaraderie and cultural influences.
A culture must be built based on interactive sharing of thoughts and discussing those thoughts toward productive and progressive outcomes that will benefit all stakeholders.
If the future leader fails to incorporate modeling endeavors of directive based management approaches but embraces the concept of ambiguous behavior; then trouble is around the corner.
One must be willing, able and capable of developing strength through communications that will then be used for a means of collaboration designed for everyone in the organization in a professional setting.
The bottom-line is that leaders need to search for the proactive person who enjoys a good challenge.
Many of us continue to pursue the aspects of proactive thinking that will include the concepts of credibility.
It is important leaders prevent the behavior models of complacency as those being led could be swayed in a different direction, a direction that could have negative results therefore not benefiting from failures.
