Channel Amp DVC Subwoofer Wiring Options

    Identification

    • A DVC subwoofer uses two independently wound coils wrapped around the former cylinder at the speaker's base. The two coils allow independent connections to a channel amplifier to produce the subwoofer's low pitches.

    Wiring Options

    • A parallel wiring configuration dramatically increases an amplifier's power output. The amplifier detects a smaller load from the DVC in parallel and reacts by using more wattage for a louder sound output. Connecting the DVC in series configuration allows the user to connect multiple DVC speakers to an amplifier without affecting the overall sound output. In an independent wiring configuration, one coil connection is simply attached to one amplifier channel, preventing the need to bridge the amplifier.

    Considerations

    • Home theaters benefit from DVC wiring options. The addition of multiple DVC subwoofers to an amplified stereo system can heighten the movie or television experience, with clear sound levels.
