    • 1). Pull up your desk chair to test the height of the center shelf of the armoire. This shelf will hold the monitor and speakers. It should be between 30 and 35 inches from the floor. Because this is normally a non-adjustable shelf, adjust the height of your chair for comfort. Laptop users will place their laptop on this shelf.

    • 2). Use a hole saw to cut a 2-inch hole into the center shelf. When you connect your monitor to the computer and speakers, you will run the wires through this hole. If you are using a laptop, the power cord will thread through this hole.

    • 3). Use a hole saw to cut a 2-inch hole in the bottom of the armoire. After setting up your computer, you will run the power cords out this hole to the outlet.

    • 4). Attach a keyboard drawer to the center shelf. A keyboard drawer holds a keyboard so that it may slide out when needed, and slide under the shelf when not in use. Follow the instructions for assembly that are included with your keyboard drawer. Normally, it attaches to the underside of the shelf with 2 brackets and screws.

    • 5). Attach a message center to one of the armoire doors. A message center is normally a combination cork board and either chalkboard or dry-erase board. This can be purchased at your local department store or office supply store. They are also available online. Attached to one of the armoire doors, a message center makes it possible to keep notes and memos handy. Secure it to the door with the included hardware, typically two screws.

    • 6). Attach wall-mounted file pockets to the other door. Wall-mounted file pockets are holders for files that attach to the wall or door and enable you to keep your files close at hand yet out of the way and organized. They can be purchased at your local department store or office supply center or online. These attach with small screws. When mounting, check to make sure the file pockets will not hit anything when the doors close.

    • 7). Install lighting. Secure a light on the underside of the top shelf. Alternately, you can use a traditional lamp if you have the room after setting up your computer.

    • 8). Place additional storage units into the armoire. Both the top and bottom shelves can be used for storage, and typically storage cubes or baskets are used to keep things organized.

    • 9). Set up your computer in the armoire. On the center shelf, place the monitor, speakers and the mouse. Laptop users place the laptop on this shelf. Put the keyboard in the keyboard drawer. On the shelf immediately beneath the center shelf place the computer tower and the printer.
