Recommendation for the Soil Nutrient Content of Vegetable Fertilizer
- Commercially available organic vegetable fertilizer contains nutrients derived from natural sources. Slow-release formulas give vegetables steady, optimum supplies of minerals and nitrogen. The microbial activity in soil increases vegetable nutrient content.
- Compost tea is a vegetable fertilizer made by soaking a small amount of compost in water. Used as a foliar spray, it increases biological activity on plant leaves. Pathogens are repelled and soil nutrient counts increase.
- Worm compost is made from worm castings as worms eat, digest and slough off their outer layer. It has five times higher nitrogen content than compost. Nitrogen is the nutrient needed by vegetables in the highest amount.
