Swimming Pool Heater Instructions
- 1). Use a pH test kit to test the current swimming water; add any necessary chemicals in order to balance the water. It's imperative that the swimming pool water is pH balanced before installing a pool heater.
- 2). Disconnect power to the pool pump by unplugging the electrical outlet or turning off the circuit breaker. Clean the pool filter and skimmer of all large debris to prevent clogging the pool heater.
- 3). Locate a level spot for the pool heater, about two to three feet away from the pool filter. If needed, use paving stones and a leveling tool to create a level area.
- 4). Use PVC pipe and attach the pool filter return valve to the inlet valve on the pool heater. The valves are labeled but if needed, the owner's manual will have a diagram. Cut the PVC pipe to fit the area using a small saw or cutting blade. Attach another piece of PVC piping to connect the return jet valve located on the sidewall of the pool to the outlet valve on the pool heater.
- 5). Set the thermostat located on the pool heater to the desired temperature. Restore power to the pool pump by plugging the electrical cord in or turning the circuit breaker back on. Allow the water to cycle through the pool filter and pool heater, back into the pool.
- 6). Check for any leaks on the PVC piping, while the water is flowing. If any leaks are noticed, turn the system off and apply PVC joint compound to seal the leaky areas.
