    Festival

    • Host an end-of-the-year school festival in which each classroom sets up its own booth. When planning the festival think of the different items that are at a carnival or county fair. You will want booths for food and drink, games and competition. Each grade level can be responsible for a certain type of booth; give the older kids the responsibility of having game booths for the younger ones to play. Another item to have at the festival is a competition section, which can include drawings, crafts, paintings, photography and other handmade creations that can be judged by other students. Plan the festival on a day close to the end of the school year when there is not much school business to be conducted.

    Water Day

    • Plan a day when the kids can let loose and have fun by hosting a water day at your school. Water day can include everything from mini pools, slip-and-slides, water balloons and other water-related activities. This is a great day to hire a local bounce house company to set up a bounce house, inflatable slide and any of the other inflatable playgrounds. Some of these companies also have bounce houses that are equipped with water hoses for added fun to water day.

    Autograph Books

    • Have the kids create their own autograph books earlier in the day, and they can go around the school and collect autographs from teachers and friends. There are many ways to make an autograph book, and templates can be downloaded from the Internet. However, if you want students to design their own, it is as simple as giving them a few sheets of card stock paper, crayons, markers, glitter, glue and other craft items. Have students fold card stock in half to create a book and staple the edges for them. Then let them decorate the outside any way they desire.

    Prepare for Next Year

    • Have your students help you prepare for the upcoming year and your new class. Have each student create a special welcome board that you can display on the first day of the next year of school. Have kids write "Welcome back to school" in big letters across the top of the sheet of paper you give them. Things kids will want to put on the board include their favorite subject and favorite lunch. Have them draw a picture of you and fill in the picture with different school supplies, such as pencils, paper, scissors and glue.
