Do you ever look at those home TV shows that show the perfect kitchen? Clean. Organized. The quintessential showcase of an organized family?

Is your kitchen the same? Or do you feel its a disorganized mess? A clean organized kitchen free of clutter will make you feel like your life is in order. Yet "organizing kitchen" is usually not high on our priority list.

Start by asking yourself what you want to do in your kitchen. For most, cook and eat is high on the priority list. For others, the kitchen is a place for social gathering. For others, the kitchen is a mini-office. Think about what you do most? Least? Then go through everything and start organizing everything into categories such as cookware, appliances, kitchen tools, utensils and so on. Take everything in your kitchen and separate it into piles with these major categories. Better yet, if you havent used it in a year, consider throwing it out

Ever hear the phrase "you can never have too much counter space in a kitchen."

If you have plenty of counter space in your kitchen for your cooking needs consider yourself lucky. But if you have books and papers and pens scattered all over the place, try taking them all out of the kitchen and move them to a different room.

Next, go through the cabinets, pantry, and fridge. Get rid of as much as you can. Besides not being good for you, expired food takes up valuable space and should be a thing of the past.

Did you ever notice that there never seems to be enough room in your kitchen to store everything you want to store. Space savers for your kitchen such as pull out cabinet organizers, wall rack systems and steel expanding shelves will help you get more use out of your space. Because of this, splurge and purchase a few space savers at Bed Bath and Beyond or home improvement stores.

Organizing kitchen projects are so rewarding as the advantages are immediate. Practice simple rules, like maintain clean surfaces, promptly throw out expired food and broken/worn items, and put things back after you have used them. Use these simple rules to help organize kitchen and you may feel like you have a brand new kitchen.
