Thank You Letter - Thanks For Thinking Big David J. Schwartz

With so many motivational and self-help books available, sometimes it becomes difficult to separate the fresh from the stale, and the ones that can really help from the ones that offer nothing worth of any value. However, David J. Schwartz classic, The Magic of Thinking Big is one of the more timeless and invaluable that I have come across with. I know that with his millions of readers, I am not alone in wanting to send a thank you letter to him for writing such an inspirational book.

Dear David,

The idea of self-actualization, or fulfilling ones potential, is one of the biggest ideas in human evolution and a topic that has been tackled and discussed by many. Your presentation and concepts about it, however, in my opinion, are one of the best articulated and most realistic. I like that you dont just repeat the well-known premise that thought governs actions and results but instead posit that its the size of thoughts that modify the size of success.

Your book has truly been quite an inspiration for me and Im sure this isnt the first time youve heard that! It has motivated me to push myself a little harder, dream and aim bigger when it comes to the work that I do. It has allowed me to have a more positive outlook, understand that disappointment should not equal defeat, and be a step closer to accomplishing my goals. Honestly, I dont think this thank you letter is enough for me to let you know how much I have learned from your wisdom.

Ive actually read quite a few motivational books and I must say that while most of them focus on personal change, I highly appreciate that you put stress also on the importance of the way we think and act towards other people. I admire how you advocate the need to always be friendly, be a good listener, and always show respect in any social interaction. This has greatly influenced the way I view my day-to-day interactions with people.

Your book didnt really give me a new secret that catapulted me into success nor did it provide me with step-by-step instructions on how to become successful. Instead, it gave me something better. It provided me with deeper insight into my life, a higher understanding of the basic principles on how to improve it, and a fresh perspective on the areas of my life that might be keeping me from achieving a higher level of happiness. I read your book for the first time over 15 years ago and yet every time I re-open its pages, I learn something new.

I hope this thank you letter expresses enough how grateful I am that you came up with the idea of thinking big and in turn encouraged me to do the same.

Respectfully,

Raffy Chan
