How to Use Windows Applications on an iPhone
- 1). Download the "Remote Desktop Lite" application to your iPhone. Tap the "App Store" icon inside the iPhone's main menu. Tap the "Search" bar and then type the name of the application into the bar. Tap the "Search" button. Select the "Remote Desktop Lite" icon in the search results list. Tap the "Free" button. Enter your iTunes username and password, and then tap "Install."
- 2). Enable remote connection on your Windows computer. Click the "Start" button and then select "Control Panel." Click "Performance" and then choose "System." Click the "Remote" tab in the "System" menu. Click the two empty boxes inside the "Remote" menu. Click the "OK" button.
- 3). Locate and record the IP address of your Windows computer. Click "Start" and then click "Run." Type "Cmd" into the new window and press "Enter" on your keyboard. Type "ipconfig" and then press "Enter" again. A long series of numbers will appear in the window. Write down this series of numbers and include the periods between them. Write down the four digits next to "Port:" in the window.
- 4). Open Remote Desktop Lite on your iPhone. Tap the "Remote Desktop" icon in the main iPhone menu. Wait for the application to load.
- 5). Type your computer's IP address and port number into the application. Remote Desktop will ask you for this information the first time you open the program. Tap the "Enter" button. Wait while the application makes a connection.
- 6). Open and use an application within your Windows operating system. Remote Desktop will transform the iPhone screen into your Windows desktop. You can open and edit any file on your Windows computer. Open a new application by tapping the application icon on the screen. You can move your mouse cursor around by holding your finger on the cursor and dragging it around the screen.
