Time for some assembly.

My friend then told me that there are many woodworking bench plans that can be purchased that detail all the steps involved in constructing a wood bench. These plans include a full materials list, which you can buy at your local home improvement store. My friend also informed me that the woodworking bench plans are so easy to follow that I will save a lot of time and money by getting a good set of plans prior to starting this project.

4 - 4" x 4" x 35" Legs

The 1/4" MDF is intended to take the brunt of the abuse this workbench will be put through. This is why it is secured with 9 - 3/4" deck screws and nothing more. When it becomes damaged beyond use simply replace it with a new sheet.

Building this work bench over the weekend is a snap and it will serve you well for a lifetime. The materials will run you about $150 but everything is readily available.

There are many variations that can be built into this workbench it all depends if you want to trim and finish it out with more details. I will cover the basic bench. Nothing more then what is necessary to have a functioning work bench.

Start by assembling the long rails and posts. With the lag screws and some wood glue proceed to assemble the two sides of the workbench, secure with screws and set aside until the glue is dry. A quick tip; get the lag screws stared so the tip is just coming out of the hole. Ready to go into the rail.

To sum it all, the woodworking benches are like tables where wood workers hold their work pieces. There are many styles of wood working benches that fit your craftsmanship. Most common type of wood working benches is sturdy and hard to keep the table from moving while wood workers are working. But the question is...

To finish your workbench you can either use clear polyurethane if the wood is nice and you want to preserve the look of it. Otherwise use paint to protect the surface from water and other stuff that it will be subjected to.

But what do you need to know about wood working vises? There are two types of vises. The front vise and the end vise. The front vise usually holds the work piece. It can do any task that needs to hold the work piece and free both hands from holding it. The best choice for front vises is the cast iron. Cast iron has two (2) front jaws that made from cast iron and a screw. This jaw can be moved forward and away from the screw. End vise is positioned at the end of the wood working bench. The major role of the end vise is to hold the work piece in a flat surface of the wood working bench.
