Are You Being Active Enough to Maintain Health?

103 4
You may wonder why you should bother with keeping yourself strong and fit.
After all it is a bit of a pain to have to go to a gym or fitness center a couple of times a week and do an exercise program.
But you could look at it as if you do not give your body what it needs to remain healthy then at some point it will not run as well and eventually will not run at all.
You see your body is designed to be active - very active.
You may wonder are you being active enough and you could say if you have a job that requires no physical activity, that you spent most of your waking hours seated and do no intentional exercise at all you are most certainly not being active enough.
What this means is that you are simply not stimulating the 'growth and repair' hormones that are needed to replace, renew, repair and rebuild the old worn out cells and tissues in your body.
Your body has to be instructed that you wish to keep your strength and that can only be conveyed by working your muscular system with proper exercise on a regular basis.
If our lifestyles had plenty of physical 'work' in them like they used to them we would not have to bother with intentional exercise but they do not.
So it is up to you to keep yourself strong and therefore healthy.
If you allow your body to weaken as without proper muscular 'work' chemicals are whispering to the cells - decay, degenerate and die then you are setting yourself up for an early exit from this world.
A law of nature does not let organisms that are no longer productive stay around for long and a sedentary life tells that this body is not longer needed to feed a family.
It is the old 'use it or lose it' scenario in action.
Even if you get to stay around your life will not be of high quality as you will lose fifteen to twenty-five pounds of muscle tissue as you get older if you do nothing to keep it and this will decrease your ability and capacity to perform the required and desired tasks and activities of daily living.
This means someone else will have to take care of you.
Hello nursing home.
This places a huge burden on family, friends and our community.
Surely it is easier and better for each of us to take some responsibility for our own health and wellness.
No doctor, no pill, no medical means, and no one else can do it for you.
If you do not do enough strength building and maintaining activity much sooner than you should you are going to lose the ability to live your life the way it should be lived.
You can easily turn this situation around; get yourself started on a proper exercise program with the help of a fitness professional if you are new to strength training exercise.
Do not fall into the trap that walking or some other low intensity recreational activity is going to rebuild and maintain strength as it will not.
Only when you take the time to keep your strength right through adulthood will you come close to approaching your personal potential to be active, healthy and independent and for as long in your life as possible.
