Heritage

• A image signifying your heritage can be a good first tattoo because it is something that will never change. You can choose a flag or other image that represents your predominant lineage or design a hybrid image of your various nationalities, such as a shamrock filled-in with the colors of the Swedish flag if you happen to be Swedish and Irish. Traditional tattoos are done in black and gray, but you may need to incorporate colors to display your complete heritage.
  
  

Child

• Possibly the event with the most impact in life is the birth of your first child. If you wish to get a tattoo marking the occasion, consider either the foot or hand prints of your child. If you wish to make the tattoo a little more extravagant, consider a life-like portrait tattoo of the child's face or a highly detailed script of the child's name. Just keep in mind, the more detailed a tattoo is, the larger it may need to be to display adequately.
  
  

Memorial Advice

• Most men, at some pint in their lives, have received some form of sage advice from either a love one or family member. You can choose one of several hundred font-types when selecting a script tattoo, but to make it a little more personal, you can choose to design the font yourself or have the person who gave you the advice design it. It can also be a biblical or other literary quote or something generic, like "Carpe Diem."
  
  

Religion

• For those with deep religious affiliations, a symbol depicting that particular faith may be the best idea for a first tattoo. This can be rosary beads, a crucifix, a Buddha, star of David or crescent moon done in either traditional black and gray or color. If you are not particular to one faith but choose to follow bits of several, consider an image that blends these symbols together or something like a charm bracelet with these religious figures set as the charms.
