How to Clean Porcelain Tile
- 1). Sweep or brush the tile. Use a broom when possible (vacuum cleaners may scratch the tile) and concentrate on the grout lines, where dirt tends to linger.
- 2). Damp mop the porcelain tile after sweeping the dirt away (or use a sponge if your tile is on the wall). You can use a commercial tile cleaner, but a simple solution of one cup white distilled vinegar in one gallon of hot water and a teaspoon of dish soap works just as well. Spots may require a little more scrubbing, especially on the grout lines.
- 3). Rinse your porcelain tile to remove film or residue (some cleaners may leave them) with a clean mop head or clean cloth.
- 4). Seal your grout if you have not done so. Grout sealant can be purchased in a spray can which makes it easy to apply. Grout sealant will protect your grout from water damage and from stains.
