    Dust Cover Bed

    • 1). Tuck your bottom sheet in all around your bed. Before you get them too tight, fold all four corners of the sheet into right angle triangles. These corner folds are known as "hospital corners" (see Additional Resources). Tuck the sheet in under your mattress as tightly as possible.

    • 2). Put your top sheet flush over the bottom sheet, then pull the top away about 6 inches from the head of the bed. Tuck in the middle and foot areas, and remember to make hospital corners at the foot.

    • 3). Lay your blanket over the top sheet and tuck it in the same way you did with the top sheet.

    • 4). Slip your pillow halfway underneath the blanket and have it run horizontally with the headrest of the bed.

    • 5). Fold your dust cover in half and lay the folded side down 24 inches away from the head of the bed, covering the pillow and top of the blanket.

    • 6). Fold the dust cover under your bed using hospital corners.

    • 7). Take out a quarter or a silver dollar and try to bounce it off of your bed. If you get a visible bounce, then your bed is ready. If the coin just lays there, then you need to go back over your bed and tuck in tighter.

    • 3). Lay your blanket over the top sheet and tuck it in the same way you did with the top sheet.

    • 4). Fold the top sheet and blanket from the head of the bed down into a 6-inch fold, so that the fold covers the bottom half of the pillow. Fold it another 6 inches so the fold runs parallel with the bottom of the pillow. The distance from the bottom of the fold to head of the bed should be around 24 inches.

    • 5). Tuck the sides of the blanket/top sheet fold tightly under the bed (not using hospital corners). The white space that is left over at the head of the bed should match the width (not the length) of your pillow.

    • 6). Take out a quarter or a silver dollar and try to bounce it off of your bed. If you get a visible bounce, then your bed is ready. If the coin just lays there, then you need to go back over your bed and tuck in tighter.
