How to Troubleshoot a Kurzweil SP88
- 1). Plug the power module into a wall outlet if the normal power sequence doesn't happen. The sequence should include all of the LED lights turning on for one second, followed by a pause and then normal operation. Make sure the power module is connected to the Kurzweil SP88, too.
- 2). Check that the volume controller isn't slid all the way down if you're not getting sound. Look for volume controls and mixers on connected audio systems, and for unplugged audio cables.
- 3). Verify that the MIDI cable is connected securely at both ends if you encounter problems sending MIDI to an external device. Make sure the MIDI connections are correct --- the cable should be plugged into the MIDI Out connector on the stage piano. If you encounter issues receiving MIDI, make sure that the transmitting device is sending on Channel 1.
- 4). Plug the switch pedal in before turning on power if the switch pedal is malfunctioning. Allow the switch pedal to complete its power-up sequence if the pedal acts the opposite of what it is supposed to (the pedal is active when up, not down).
- 5). Verify that the Y adapter is a stereo splitter type if you are using mono adapter cables to adapt a control pedal. It shouldn't be the kind of Y adapter that's used to plug two headphones into a single jack.
