Decorating a Table With Antiques
- 1). Decorate the a tabletop with vintage postcards. Choose a theme or style for your display. For example, look through flea markets for postcards of your hometown. Or find postcards from a favorite vacation spot. Alternatively, select postcards from one era, such as painted postcards from the 1930s and 1940s. Arrange the cards on top of the table. Cover with a piece of glass you've had cut to measure.
- 2). Fill vintage glass apothecary jars with a collection of small, decorative items. Place seashells in a turquoise-tinted jar to give a table a beach-inspired look. Fill a clear jar with colorful antique marbles or buttons.
- 3). Fill a vintage vase with fresh flowers, and use it as a centerpiece. Fill an etched crystal or milk glass vase with a romantic bouquet of blooms, such as sweetheart roses, peonies, calla lilies or dahlias. Place the arrangement in the middle of the table.
- 4). Fill a candy dish with old-fashioned favorites, such as licorice, gumdrops or peppermints. Choose a candy dish with a distinctive design, such as pedestal-style Depression glass or rooster-shaped Carnival glass. Place the candy dish anywhere on the table as a sweet treat for friends and family members.
