One of the smartest things you can do is learn another language and if English is your first language, Spanish is by far the best second language to learn because it will open up your world like you would not believe and it will get you equipped for the changing world we are experiencing.
For example, I'm sitting here writing this article from Santiago, Chile where I now live.
Something I would never have expected growing up in a small country town in Australia! How would you feel to be able to translate something from Spanish to English for someone! (Trust me it's a good feeling) Now, I'm going to get straight to the point.
Learning to speak Spanish (and any other language for that matter) has more benefits than you could imagine.
Over my 6 years of learning and speaking Spanish and enjoying the experiences that have come along, I have realized that there are three main benefits of learning Spanish.
1) Statistics show that 400 million people speak Spanish and it is the third most spoken language after mandarin Chinese and English.
It is the official language of 24 countries and the fastest growing language in the world.
Did you know that Spanish will be spoken by half the population of the USA by the 2050.
2) All but one country in South America speak Spanish.
If you have never been to South America, then it is an absolute must to add to the "Bucket List".
Going to South America is an awesome experience in itself, and everyone I have met that have been say only good things.
Now how much better do you think it would be if you also could communicate with the locals? 3) Learning and speaking Spanish opens up a part of the brain that you would have only used when you were a child learning to speak your native language.
Have you ever heard the quote; "if you don't use it, you lose it"? Well, since you are no longer learning your native language, that part of your brain has been in idle so it's probably time to get it working again!
