Banana Pancakes
Do you believe that all pancakes are created equal? If you find that pancakes all taste the same, then it’s time to shake things up. This recipe for banana pancakes is different. Unlike many other banana pancake recipes, these bananas are inside the batter.
Keep in mind that bananas pack a lot of sweetness. While this recipe does not have a lot of sugar in it, the natural sweetness from the banana may be too much for you if you are trying to eliminate sugar in all forms.
I would rather see people eating pure maple syrup than a processed artificially flavored syrup that is full of high-fructose corn syrup. Pure maple syrup does not contain any additives. It offers magnesium, potassium and calcium and is a vegan product, suitable for those who do not consume animal-derived foods. It is lower in sugar than corn syrup and even honey.
When trying to limit your sugar consumption, this is one food you’ll want to go easy on. One tip is to measure the maple syrup on a spoon or ½ teaspoon measure, prior to pouring it onto the pancakes. This helps to really understand the amount of maple syrup you’re consuming. Pouring it directly onto your food doesn’t allow you to grasp exactly how much you’re taking in. You could also consider an alternative sweetener instead of maple syrup if you'd prefer.
Another tip is to explore your options when choosing toppings for your pancake. Instead of sugary syrup, what about using a good fat, like butter on top? Some high protein nuts? Consider good quality dark chocolate, that contains 70% or more cacao. Whipping cream that has been prepared at home without much additional sugar is also a good choice.
