Creating a Watery Wonderland

• 1). Choose colors that evoke the oceans and seas. Most seas are shades of blue and green. Paint walls light blue to create the feeling of being underwater. Add trim in darker shades of blue and pale green on baseboards to give depth to a room. Purchase blue shower curtains. Paint one wall green and another blue. Buy green rugs and sheets for a bedroom.
  
  
• 2). Use the right lighting. The underwater world is one in which sunlight is often indirect. Create the feeling of indirect lighting in any room with candles and uplights. Place sea green and aqua candles in corners where they can flicker on walls to remind people of diving or snorkeling. Use uplights to make pools of light on the floor or wall. Scatter small lamps on side tables to create more indirect lighting in any room. Wrap the lampshades with blue or green fabric.
  
  
• 3). Use representations of fish. Stencil the top of a wall with a repeating fish motif. Place pictures of fish on walls and doorways. Purchase plastic fish and hang on walls to use as a focal point. Buy a shower curtain for the bathroom with pictures of fish on the side.
