How to Download Radio Shows to an iPod
- 1). Search for your favorite radio shows on iTunes. Whether you enjoy a particular sports talk show, political pundit, morning zoo or even classic radio serials, you can quickly find out if your desired show is available for download. Open your iTunes software, the official digital media software for your iPod, and click "iTunes Store" in the left column (you must have an active Internet connection). At the top of the "Store" window, click the "Podcasts" tab. You can search for your favorite shows by browsing the appropriate category pages, or you can click the "Search" box in the upper right corner and enter the name of the show. After entering your search terms, just click "Enter" on your keyboard.
- 2). Download your shows. When you locate a show in the iTunes Store that you want to download, click the title of the show to visit the show page and see a list of the most recent episodes, along with a brief description. To download any episode, click the "Price" button (which usually reads "Free," for podcasts) on the far right side of the episode listing. To subscribe, ensuring that each new future episode automatically downloads to your computer, click the "Subscribe" button in the left column.
- 3). Download your shows from the web. If iTunes does not carry your favorite radio shows, you may still find them online. Visit the official website of the radio station carrying your show, or the official website of the show itself if available, and look for a "Podcasts" or "Downloads" link. Sometimes networks will archive their shows independently. You may also check podcast sites like Podcast.com and Podcast Alley. Sites like Public Radio Fan and NPR Podcast Directory cater specifically to radio shows. When you find a download link, click it once to download the show to your hard drive.
- 4). Connect your iPod to your PC. Plug the iPod USB cable into your iPod dock and into your computer's USB port, and iTunes should then open automatically if you haven't opened it already. If you have iTunes set to sync content automatically (meaning that the iPod automatically updates to match the content in the iTunes library), just wait for the syncing to finish. If you have iTunes set for "Manual," just drag your radio show file(s) from the iTunes library directly onto the iPod icon in the left column.
