You may be asking yourself, what are G scale train sets exactly? The answer is they are model trains that are twenty-two (22) times smaller than the real-life train they are replicating.
In other words, G scaled trains have a ratio of 1:22.
They are known as G scale trains, because they were first set up in the garden.
The ratio of those early garden model railroad trains was 1:24.
These model trains were first invented in Germany and then came to USA in early 1920s.
They are large enough and strong enough to have multiple adults ride on them at one time.
Today, the exact ratio for G scale trains is said to be 1:22.
5.
G trains are the largest among model railroad trains and because they are built to function outdoors, they are the strongest and most durable model trains available.
One other characteristic of G scale trains is that they run on a brass railroad track.
Brass tracks can be quite expensive, so if you are thinking about setting up a G scale train make sure that you find current prices of the tracks and use that information in your design process.
You might ask, why is the track made of Brass? It is because of its suitability to the outdoors and gardens.
The brass requires only a little maintenance compared to other materials used for track building.
If the tracks were made of steel or aluminum they would be greatly affected by water, the sun and other outdoor elements.
Aluminum and steel are very difficult to clean.
If the Brass track becomes a little unsightly, all you have to do is scrub it with steel wool.
If you do more research into G scale trains you will find that they are easy to handle in comparison to smaller scale model trains.
They are also very easy to setup because of their large size.
Because of all the positive characteristics, G model trains are very popular.
These trains make your backyard seem a little surreal.
How many people have a model train big enough to ride on set up in their garden? Not many.
It is a fun toy to have, you might want to look into it further.
