Makeup Ideas for Liquid Eyeliner

    Traditional Look

    • Liquid eyeliner is simply eyeliner that is in liquid form instead of pencil or powder form. The liquid liner is usually designed as a slender tube with a fine brush on the end. By turning the tube on the other end, the liquid comes out in small amounts. It comes in a variety of colors, including brown liquid eyeliner. It also comes in several different formulas.

Apply makeup foundation to the eyelid, before applying eye shadow or liquid eyeliner. This will prevent the eye shadow from smudging and the eyeliner from getting messy. Apply eye shadow after the foundation, and then, the liquid eyeliner over the eye shadow. Use small amounts at the start. Shake the liquid eyeliner bottle well, and make sure there is enough liquid on the applicator. Use liquid eyeliner on your top eyelid, just above the lash line, and use pencil eyeliner under the bottom eye's lash line. Have a cotton swab dipped in eye makeup remover at the ready, should you make mistakes or run the line over unwanted areas.

    Cat Look

    • Create a sexy cat look you can wear for night makeup or as a special effect for Halloween. This can be a slightly subtle cat look or an intense, dramatic effect. If you are looking for a subtle cat look, then choose liquid eyeliners that are lighter in color, like brown, burgundy or light grey. If you are looking for drama, then you want to choose a dark, black liquid eyeliner.

Apply foundation to your eyelids as you normally would. Start applying a black eyeliner pencil from the corner of the upper eyelid, to the end of your lash line. Smudge the line slightly with your finger, and add more eyeshadow over the top of the pencil eyeliner, to soften the line. Apply liquid eyeliner over the top of the pencilled line. Keep the liquid eyeliner as close to the eyelash line as possible, on the top lid. Next, thicken the line, as you get to the outer corner of the eye, then swoop the line up slightly past the outer corner of the eye. For more drama, draw small vertical points from the inner eye corner that descend slightly toward the nose. Apply dark eyeshadow again at the line, to blend it in. Blend upward, toward the eye crease. Use a highlight shadow on the outside corner of the eyebrow, to make the dark cat line stand out even more. Curl and apply long eyelash mascara to finish the dramatic cat-like effect.

    Fairy Look

    • Make an enchanted fairy face design. Use green or blue eyeliner, and draw curves and flower vines along the face, neck and eyes. The entire face is your palette for fantasy makeup. Use thick and thin curves to create your flower vine. Draw your vines and design in free form. Use makeup remover to remove any part of the design you you do not like. Create the flower shapes with a lip or eyeshadow pencil liner. Outline the finished flower petals with a purple liquid eyeliner to emphasize the flower. Draw wings on either side of the eyes, making them curve up into the eyebrow. Use glimmer highlight eyeshadow to color the wings, then outline the entire wing with your purple liquid eyeliner. Add black eyeliner where you need shadows, or to emphasize certain curves within the wing.
