    • 1). Cut and discard overhanging old roofing with the fascia.

    • 2). Dispose of decayed fascia boards and install new ones.

    • 3). Place nailers around pipes that project through the roof. Use a minimum 1-by-3-inch standard and high-quality lumber. Locate the nailer by examining the dektite flashings. The latter are used to seal hot or cold flues and pipes on metal roofs. Mount the nailers downward to the valleys, ridges, hips and any other place in need of a flashing. Inspect the flashing to trace the proper location of the nailer. Fasten nailers to the chimney.

    • 4). Line the remainder of the roof with a minimum 1-by-3-inch standard and high-quality lumber. Place the lumber, a recommended 2 inches or a maximum 3 inches, on the center of the roof. The lumber should be at least 3/4 inches thick for the screws to fit properly. When constructing new roofs, a 2-by-4-inch standard and high quality lumber can be placed over trusses. Sheeting is not required to support the metal. Consult your local building code requirements to ensure that your project is legitimate.

    • 5). Apply the fascia cover flashing. You can assemble this to any dimension or slope.

    • 6). Mount the valley flashing by utilizing very minute galvanized nails to keep them in place. Apply screws and secure tightly. Place a rubber closure above the wing of the valley flashing and seal the valley to the configuration of the metal.

    • 7). Lay metal sheets. Ensure that the sheets start square. Place the short laps over the full laps. Wood screws should be utilized to apply the sheets as they provide better support and come with high-quality washers. Ensure that the washer is compressed and not over tightened when adjusting the nose of the screw gun.

    • 8). Attach the gable trim. You can assemble the leg on this trim to any length to complement the current structure.

    • 9). Fasten the ridge cap by utilizing the closures located under the ridge cap as well as on top of the metal roof. When it rains the water will blow up and under the ridge cap if this process isn't completed. You must always use a high-grade silicone caulking around a pipe flashing to prevent leaks.
