How to Change the Startup Programs XP Runs
- 1). Click on your "Start" button and choose "Run" from the Start screen.
- 2). Type "MSCONFIG" into the text box of the Run window. Click "OK" to run the configuration program.
- 3). Choose the "Startup" tab on the System Configuration Utility screen.
- 4). Scroll down the list of programs that are on the Startup screen. Remove the check mark beside any programs you don't need to launch automatically, such as Microsoft Office, any reminder programs and programs you no longer use.
- 5). Click "Apply" when you have finished selecting the programs to remove from Startup.
- 6). Reboot your computer. A screen will display asking you to confirm the new startup procedure. Once you have confirmed the changes, the software you selected will no longer launch automatically at the startup of your machine.
