How To Play PC Video on a Digital TV
- 1). Connect one of the digital visual interface, or DVI, plugs to one of the DVI ports of the TV, then plug the other end of the DVI cable into the DVI port on the computer. All digital TVs have DVI ports. Not all computers have DVI ports, but they are common on newer computers. DVI ports allow digital signals to be transferred from one device to another.
- 2). Turn the computer and TV on. Set the computer to "Video" mode from your remote control. If the PC is not being displayed on the TV, go back to the desktop on your computer and right-click any open area. A menu will pop up with different options; choose "Graphics Options." On the next menu, choose "Output," then select "Monitor." This switches the signal from your computer to the TV.
- 3). Find the video file you would like to play from the computer onto the TV. Double-click the file to open it in the computer's default media program. You can control the volume from the TV's remote control, but functions such as pause, rewind, fast-forward and stop need to be handled by using the mouse to interact with the on-screen media program.
