How to Create an iPod Library
- 1). Download the Mac or PC version of the free iTunes program from the Apple website. Double-click the iTunes icon once it has downloaded to begin the installation process. Follow the command menus to complete the installation of iTunes onto the computer's hard drive. Restart the computer.
- 2). Double-click the icon of the iTunes program while holding down the "Option" key on a Mac or the "ALT" key on a Windows-based computer. Click the "Create Library" button on the dialog box that appears. Click "Open" on the navigation window that appears to show you where the iPod Library folder will be created on the computer's hard drive. Wait as iTunes creates the iPod Library folder. Quit iTunes when the iPod Library folder has been created.
- 3). Double-click the iTunes icon to launch it. Wait for the iTunes window to appear on the screen. Go to "File" and select "Library" from the drop-down menu. Select "Organize Library" from the submenu below "Library."
- 4). Check the "Consolidate files" check box. Click the "OK" button to close the window. All of the music files will now be copied to the iPod Library that has been created on the hard drive by iTunes.
