At some point in most persons' lives, they are affected by the dreaded acne.
This is because acne is one of the most common diseases that exist.
Before we delve deep into some simple homemade treatments for acne, we need to first establish what exactly acne is and what causes it.
Acne is a skin condition that is commonly characterized by bumps, pimples, or zits.
But these are just the common terms.
One type acne bumps is called comedones, which may be opened or closed.
Opened comedones are actually blackheads, and closed comedones are whiteheads.
Another type of bump that can be seen in acne is papulopustules.
These are elevations in the skin which are hard, and contain whitish yellowish pus.
In more severe acne, there may be cysts, which are filled with a liquid substance.
The main cause of acne is heredity.
That is, if either or both parents of the individual have it, it is likely that that individual will get it.
Acne has also been known to skip generations.
It may be triggered by excessive sunlight, things rubbing on skin and causing irritation, and excess hormone levels.
These hormone levels are the primary cause of acne in teenagers.
While it is advised that acne sufferers use medication to treat their breakouts, there exist simpler and cheaper methods that can be done with simple household items.
Because too sunlight can trigger acne, the easiest thing to do is to limit your exposure to direct sunlight.
If you have to be in the sun, always wear SPF lotions, that are non greasy.
Most acne breakouts are concentrated in areas of excess oil.
Removing facial oil will reduce the risk of acne breakouts.
Cucumber masks, raw oats scrubs, even lime juice helps to cut facial oil.
Your skin makes excess oil because it believes that its surface is dry.
Excessive face washing and certain face washes can cause this.
Therefore keeping skin moisturized with a non oily formula helps to stop breakouts.
When acne causes the bearer physical discomfort, aloe vera helps to sooth it.
For very irritated skin, the aloe vera rub can be placed in the refrigerator to cool before applying it to the face.
Garlic is known to be nature's antibiotic.
Acne is sometimes caused by bacteria.
Garlic can help to remove the bacteria, therefore promoting healing for the skin.
A paste can be rubbed directly on top of the bumps, or pieces of a clove be ingested daily.
While these can help to treat moderate to mild cases of acne, more severe cases do require medical attention immediately before permanent scarring occurs.
