How to Make Your Own Shirt Stickers
- 1). Equip yourself with iron-on transfer paper. There are different products for light and dark surfaces, so consider where you are planning to apply the image.
- 2). Load your printer with transfer paper. Ensure the print -- or plastic-side -- of the paper is oriented correctly in the printer, as this is where the image must be printed.
- 3). Draw a picture, using an image editing software, such as Adobe Acrobat or Paint.NET or download a ready image from the Internet. Either way, edit the image's position, so that it doesn't go near the paper's edges.
- 4). Go to the printer settings, select "Page Layout" and click on "Mirror Image" to reverse the picture. This is a very important action, as when you iron the paper face-down, the picture is reversed. However, if you have already reversed the picture on the paper, the result on the shirt will be what you see on the screen.
- 5). Print the image on the transfer paper and cut out the blank space around the picture. Place the shirt on a firm surface and preheat the iron for 10 minutes at the highest setting. Do not use steam. Iron the shirt first, to remove any wrinkles.
- 6). Place the transfer on the shirt, with the plastic-side facing down. Iron from side-to-side smoothly, heating the surface evenly. Do this for 30 minutes -- or according to package directions -- and then peel off the transfer paper, while the paper is hot.
