If there's one thing I like most about summer (besides the fact that my husband is home because he's a teacher) it's that fruits are at their peak. We gorge on strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, grapes, cherries, and peaches all summer long.

So if you're trying to eat healthier, turn to these quick and easy fruit dessert recipes. You can still indulge your sweet tooth and get some nutrition into the bargain.

Some of these recipes use no heat at all, so you can stay cool while feeding your family well.

Be sure to take a look at How to Prepare Fruits and Vegetables for more information (and recipes) using delectable summer fruits. And if you have some time, go to a Farmer's Market to see summer's bounty at its very best.

Summer Fruit Dessert Recipes

  • Peach Sour Cream Pie
This spectacular pie tastes like summer. It's delicious, easy to make, and perfect for any occasion.
  • Eton Mess
It's too bad this incredibly wonderful dessert doesn't have a better name. There are no words to describe how delicious this is. Or how easy!
  • Easy Strawberry Shortcake
This really is the easiest dessert ever. Slice some berries, slice some poundcake, whip some cream, and voila!
  • No Bake Peach Crisp
A crunchy cereal, combined with sugar, butter, and almonds, is the no bake topping for a simple peach dessert. It's fabulous.
  • Summer Fruit Parfaits
Strawberry yogurt, enriched with a little cream and layered with fresh fruits, makes a beautiful and easy dessert. This one can be thrown together at the last minute, or you can make it ahead of time. Then when you want to eat, just stroll over to the fridge, put the goblets on a serving tray, and float back to your guests.

  • Peach Creme Brulee
This super simple recipe couldn't be easier. All you have to do is top fresh and juicy peaches with a sweetened sour cream mixture and some nuts, then broil. The sour cream thickens and becomes a fabulous topping, and the heat makes the peaches even sweeter.
  • Summer Pudding
I never really liked this dessert recipe because I don't like moist bread, until I tried ciabatta bread. It was the only white bread I had in the house. The airy bread, with its denser texture, is the perfect complement to the juicy fruits. This is now one of my favorite desserts.
  • Pavlova
Another English dessert! This beauty has to be made ahead of time. At the last minute, top the meringue with cream and berries - the more the better.
  • Grilled Pineapple with Marshmallow Creme
Well, or fruit sorbet. Grilling pineapple brings out its sweetness and caramelizes the surface ever so slightly. Topped with sorbet or the sticky marshmallow mixture, this is a satisfying and light dessert.
  • Watermelon with Berry Salsa
Surprisingly, the jalapeno brings out the sweetness of the fruits in this super-healthy dessert recipe. It's beautiful and colorful too.
  • Strawberries Dipped in Chocolate
Luscious strawberries and creamy rich chocolate are made for each other. To make this dessert a bit healthier, use dark chocolate instead of milk.
  • Peach Sorbet with Marinated Strawberries
Champagne, peaches, and strawberries! What's not to like? This easy dessert is for grownups only. But if your kids like the look of it, use sparkling cider in place of champagne.
  • Fresh Strawberry Pie
Strawberries and cream cheese are the perfect pairing in a crisp cookie crust. This easy dessert needs no heat at all if you buy a graham cracker crust to use instead!
  • Creamy Fruit Tartlets
This recipe is perfect for kids: they can make it and then enjoy! And because they made it, they're more likely to eat it.
  • Grilled Angel Food Cake with Fruit Salsa
Grilling an angel food cake is a wonderful way to bring out its flavor. The surface caramelizes and the contrast of the warm cake with cool salsa is fantastic. If you must 'gild the lily' add some ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Red White and Blue Trifle
And finally, another nod to England! This beautiful trifle is perfect for any patriotic holiday. The pound cake stands up nicely to the pudding and fruits. And it's beautiful too.
