Keeping New Year Resolutions - Step Five - Get Specific With Measurable Results

103 10
You are making good progress toward defining your New Years resolution by writing it down, conquering procrastination, getting support and forming a detailed plan.
As you work toward your destination, having a definite, clear vision of what you want to achieve is essential.
Why be so specific? Being vague about what you want to accomplish is a roadblock that will throw you off course.
When you know exactly where you are going, you can define each little step and action exactly.
When you can measure results, you will know when you have completed a task and that you are ready for the next one.
Let me explain.
If your goal is to lose weight, you need to identify how much weight you want to lose.
Let's say you weigh 165 pounds and you want to weigh 130 pounds.
That means you will need to lose 35 pounds.
First you lose one pound.
Then, two.
Then five pounds.
You can use a scale to measure your progress.
As you get closer to your goal, you can see how your progress has been built on losing those pounds.
The same is true of any skill that you want to build, any amount of money that you want to earn.
If you do not make your resolution measurable, you will set yourself up for disappointment, because you do not have a way to tell if you have met your goal or not.
It's like playing football without a goal line, or soccer without a net.
If you cannot score, you will not win.
Once you have set up the specifics of your resolutions, it's time to get passionate about them.
Step 6 is all about making your New Years resolutions meaningful and personal.
