How to Build Cardboard Playhouses
- 1). Find a cardboard box large enough for a child to fit inside. A refrigerator box works well for this project. Try visiting appliance stores to see if they have unused boxes they can give you.
- 2). Cut off the top flaps of the box with scissors. Flip the box over so this empty side is now on the bottom and the bottom of the box is on top. Lift the flaps that are now on top until they reach a triangle point, and hold them in place with masking tape. This is now the roof of the playhouse.
- 3). Cut a rectangle shape out of the bottom middle of the front side of the playhouse. Use a yard stick to make sure the rectangle is about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. This will make the doorway of the playhouse. Also cut out a square from the two walls of the box connected to this front side, making the squares about 1 foot by 1 foot. These will act as windows.
- 4). Paint the entire box in colors of your choosing. Let it dry.
- 5). Using a staple gun, attach fabric above the door and windows of the playhouse, making curtains and a doorway to add privacy for the kids.
