Types of Hair for Bonding

• The two main types of hair weave are weft (tracks) and single-stranded (bulk) hair. Both of these types can be used for hair bonding. While either synthetic or human hair can be used for bonding, human hair is easier to style and lasts longer. Plus, it is more authentic looking than the artificial fibers that make up synthetic hair.
  
  Hair manufacturers have started putting out products that are geared just for hair bonding. There are bonding kits that come with all the tools (except for the hair) and instructions on doing single-strand bonding. There are also pre-adhesive hair wefts that require none of the messy hair glue for the application.
  
  The hair comes in many different colors and several different textures. Of the textures, there are Remi (highest quality human hair), Yaki (good quality human hair), silky straight (more like Asian hair), curly, wavy and kinky (more like the texture of African hair).
  
  

Hair Bonding Techniques

• The two ways that hair weave can be bonded are strand bond weaving and weft weaving. With strand bond weaving, single-stranded hair is used and applied with either fusion or extended tube techniques.
  
  For fusions, the natural hair is sectioned into very small sections. A wax or hair glue gun is then used to bond the natural hair to the weave hair. With extended tubing, the weave hair is attached to natural hair with small locking clips. The single-stranded bonding style is a favorite for women looking for a long-lasting weave style. Fusion bonding can last up to six months. The natural hair can be shampooed and relaxed regularly while the style is still intact.
  
  Weft weaving is done with track hair. The natural hair is either braided into cornrows or sectioned off. The wefts is then applied by adding hair glue to the tracks and applied to the hair near the scalp. For pre-glued hair, a protective strip is removed from the weft before it is applied; no glue is required.
  
  The weft weaving method doesn't last as long as fusions. At the most, it will last for about 2 months. The natural hair isn't able to be shampooed or relaxed while in this style, so most women remove the wefts after a few weeks to take care of the natural hair.
