    • 1). Click the "Start" button and type "regedit" into the search box. Press "Enter" when you are done.

    • 2). View the entries in your Windows 7 registry. Entries are separated into different sections: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS and HKEY_CURRENT CONFIG.

    • 3). Press the plus (+) symbol next to each directory to open a more detailed list of contents stored in each file.

    • 4). Click each entry you want to delete and then press the "Delete" key on your keyboard. Continue deleting entries you know that you know are no longer needed or are causing you problems.
