How to Make Crepe Paper Badges
- 1). Cut an 18-inch length of crepe paper streamer in a color that matches your party's theme. Trim one long edge of the streamer using pinking shears to create a decorative edge.
- 2). Hand-sew 1/2-inch-long running stitches along the straight long edge of the streamer, 1/4 inch from the edge. Apply a sliver of clear tape over the knot to secure it and prevent it from pulling through the paper. Gently gather the crepe paper streamer on the thread to form a medallion shape. Tape the thread to secure and cut off the excess.
- 3). Lay the medallion flat on your work table. Apply double-sided tape to the top on one short end of the streamer. Place the other short end of the streamer over the tape to complete the medallion.
- 4). Draw a 2-inch circle on lightweight cardboard using a compass. Cut out the circle. This is the back of the badge. Cut two 5-inch lengths of 5/8-inch-wide ribbon. Apply double-sided tape to one side of the circle. With the ribbons laying side by side, place the short ends on one end of the pair over the tape. Adjust the ribbons with the other ends separated by 2 inches. When adjusted, firmly press the ribbon ends onto the tape. Trim the free ends of the ribbon at an angle.
- 5). Place double-sided tape over the ribbon ends on the cardboard circle. Center the crepe paper medallion over the circle and press down. Slide the taped medallion into a stapler and staple the center.
- 6). Draw a 2-inch circle on decorative card stock using a compass. Cut out the circle using pinking shears or decorative-edge paper scissors. Apply a dot of hot glue to the center of the crepe paper medallion. Center the circle over the glue. This is the front of the badge.
- 7). Turn the badge over with the back facing up. Apply hot glue to the back of a 2-inch pin-back. Place the pin horizontal and slightly above the center back of the crepe paper badge.
