How to Keep My Natural Curly Hair Defrizzed & Bouncy
- 1). Comb conditioner through the lower two-thirds of your hair using a wide-toothed comb while still in the shower. The conditioner and steam from the shower keeps your curls moist and intact while you detangle.
- 2). Pat, don't rub, your hair dry with a clean cotton cloth or paper towels. The absorbent thread loops on terrycloth towels separate strands, disrupting your natural curls and causing frizz.
- 3). Spread two quarter-sized globs of curl-enhancing gel over your fingers and palms and rake your fingers through your hair. Use gel that contains glycerin but is also alcohol-free. Glycerin helps define curls, but alcohol dries hair, causing frizz. Spreading the gel over your hands before applying the product ensures even distribution throughout your curls.
- 4). Scrunch your hair in 3- to 4-inch sections. Position the bottom of each section in your palm and scrunch upward toward the scalp. Only scrunch each section once to avoid accidentally separating the curls. Allow your hair to dry completely.
- 5). Avoid combing your hair during the day. If absolutely necessary, pick the roots of your hair using a wide-toothed comb. Combing or brushing separates the curls, which leads to frizzing.
