How to Set Up a Surround Sound Diagram
- 1). Place the seating area so the main seats are parallel with the intended display location and the front three speakers.
- 2). Center the display with the main seating area. Place the center channel immediately above or below the display.
- 3). Place the front main speakers 3 to 5 feet from the display, toed in at approximately 30 degrees to the main seating area.
- 4). Place the subwoofer to the immediate inside of the left or right speaker, depending on which spot gives the best overall response.
- 5). Place the side surround speakers on the side walls, at least 3 to 5 feet from the sides of the main listening area.
- 6). Put rear surrounds together against the rear wall if a THX surround system is in use. Otherwise, if the speakers are direct-radiating, they should be 3 to 5 feet from the back of the listening position, and toe the rear surrounds in at 30 to 50 degrees.
