Samsung HT-E6730W Blu-ray Home Theater System Video Performance Tests

In order to test the video upscaling performance of the Samsung HT-E6730W home theater system, I used the standardized HQV DVD Benchmark Test Disc from Silicon Optix (IDT). The DVD has a series of test patterns and images that test how well a video processor in a TV, Home Theater Receiver, or Blu-ray/DVD player performs when faced with a low resolution or poor quality source.

In this Step-by-Step look, the results of several of the tests listed in the menu above are shown.

The following tests were conducted with the Samsung HT-E6730W's HDMI output connected to a Westinghouse LVM-37w3 LCD Monitor, which has 1080p screen resolution display capability. The Samsung HT-E6730W was set for 1080p output so that the test results reflected the video processing performance of the HT-E6730W.

The test results are shown as measured by the HQV DVD Benchmark Disc.

Screen shots in this presentation were obtained using a Sony DSC-R1 Digital Still Camera. Photos were taken at 10-Megapixel resolution and resized for posting in this gallery.
