How to Open a 2007 Word Document on Windows XP
- 1). Open a Web browser window and navigate to the Microsoft Update website (see "Resources").
- 2). Click "Express." If Windows XP has been updated with all high-priority or required updates, do nothing and continue on to the next step. Otherwise, click "Install Updates" when prompted.
- 3). Navigate to the download page for the Office Compatibility Pack on the Microsoft website (see "Resources").
- 4). Click the "Download" button and save the installer program to your desktop when prompted by your browser.
- 5). Close all open programs.
- 6). Double-click the icon of the installer program you downloaded previously, and then click "Run" on each of the next two screens when prompted.
- 7). Check the box labeled "Click here to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms," click "Continue" and then click "OK" to start the installation process.
- 8). Click "OK" after the process completes to close the installer program.
