How to Add a Rib Cuff to a Crocheted Sweater
- 1). Make 10 chain stitches using the yarn you used to crochet the main body of your sweater. Single crochet the second chain from the hook and in each chain across.
- 2). Chain one and turn; make a single crochet in the back loops of every stitch across. Repeat this step until the cuff is 7 inches tall.
- 3). Bring the short ends of the cuff together and line them up so they mirror one another. Make a row of slip stitches, going through both sets of stitches, to join the short ends together.
- 4). Make a slip stitch and cut the working yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Pull this tail all the way through the stitch to tighten and fasten off the work, then thread it onto an embroidery needle.
- 5). Turn the sweater and the cuff inside out. Line up the cuff with the sleeve of the sweater. Use the embroidery needle to whipstitch the cuff to the edge of the sleeve. To whipstitch, simply pass the needle down through the cuff and bring it up through the sweater, then repeat to make looped stitches all the way around to connect the two pieces. Finish off and weave in the loose yarn ends inside the sweater, then repeat with the other sleeve.
