Before You Buy a Blendtec or Vitamix Blender
Blendtec vs. Vitamix - Which Is the Better Smoothie Blender?
Smoothie Blenders
This review compares the Blendtec vs. Vitamix blenders to help you see which is the best smoothie blender for you.
Because most people buy these powerful blenders to make smoothies or whole juices, I'm going to focus on the Blendtec vs. Vitamix as smoothie blenders. I'm not going to discuss all of the many other uses for these blenders, such as pureeing soups and making salsa, peanut butter and pesto.
Other blenders and food processors perform those jobs quite well, and you don't need to spend over $350 for those tasks.
Vitamix Blender
Vitamix Blender Review
I've listed what I like and don't like about the Vitamix blender in the reviews. The big difference is the Vitamix costs about $50 more than the Blendtec. Is it worth it?
The Vitamix used to be the only blender with a BPA-free container. Now the Blendtec is also BPA-free, so no advantage there.
The Vitamix has a tamper, which helps push greens and whole fruits into the blades for easier crushing. But you can buy a similar tool for the Blendtec for less than $50.
The Vitamix has a 7-year warranty, while the Blendtec has a 3-year warrany.
Blendtec Blender
I think the Blendtec performs equally as well as the Vitamix as a smoothie blender and for crushing whole fruits for whole juices. As I mentioned above, the Blendtec has a price advantage over the Vitamix, but it doesn't come with a tamper, and the warranty is a little shorter.
For most people, those disadvantages are minor. The Blendtec pitcher also may have a design advantage over the Vitamix. It's shorter and wider, which means it may fit under kitchen cabinets better than the Vitamix. And the wide top helps get thick smoothies out of the jar, too.
Finally, some stores that sell the Blendtec extend the warranty.
Recipes for Your Blendtec or Vitamix Blender
