How to Make Cards With Pillow Boxes
- 1). Trace a 4-by-5-inch rectangle on a piece of card stock. Cut out the rectangle to make the card. Decorate one side of the card with scrapbooking decals and write a note or invitation details on the opposite side.
- 2). Lay an 8 1/2-by-11-inch piece of card stock on a flat surface. Turn the paper so that the paper makes a long rectangle, rather than a tall rectangle, in front of you. Use a pencil and ruler to draw a line a 1/2-inch from the left side. Leave the ruler in place to score the line gently and then fold the 1/2-inch of paper upward.
- 3). Decorate the back of the paper if the card stock has no pattern or picture of its own.
- 4). Fold the right side of the paper over to the fold line on the left hand side. Make a crease at this new fold line.
- 5). Keep the paper folded over with the paper now making a tall rectangle in front of you. Place a large round object, such as a plate, at the top of the paper so that the center of the paper is aligned with the plate. There should be a small flap of paper sticking out from either side of the plate. Use a pencil to make a line around the top of the plate and cut off the paper that extends beyond the traced line. Repeat this step with the edge of the rectangle nearest to you.
- 6). Put the plate on the table above the paper and move the rectangle underneath the plate until the outer edges of the paper touch the plate. Draw a line to mark the curve and gently score both sides of the paper. Move the plate to the other side of the paper and repeat this step on the side of the paper closest to you.
- 7). Use a hole-punch to cut out half of a circle at the center edge of both the top and bottom of the rectangle.
- 8). Open the paper and apply some strong clear or white craft glue to the back of the 1/2-inch seam made on the left side. Fold the right side back over on top of the seam and press firmly to attach the two sides together. Let the glue dry for 30 to 60 minutes.
- 9). Push the top pieces of the paper box that were scored inward to close the bottom of the box. Place the card in the box and push the bottom pieces of scored paper inward to close the top of the box.
