How to Mix Acrylic with Resin

    • 1). Mix the resin according to the epoxy kit's instructions. For example, if it says to mix with a ratio of 1:1, mix 2.5 oz. of resin and 2.5 oz. of the hardener in a cup, and stir it with a wooden craft stick.

    • 2). Stir constantly and watch as the mixture becomes cloudy. Scrape off any resin that builds up on the sides of the cup as you stir it. Stir for two minutes, or until the mixture becomes clear.

    • 3). Pour equal amounts of the resin into each disposable cup. Add acrylic paint, one drop at a time. Stir between drops, and keep adding the paint until you get the right color. A very light color will take two drops; a bright or dark color may take five or more, depending on the shade and hue of the paints. Stir the paint in thoroughly, or until it is opaque and has a uniform look with no swirls of darker color.

    • 4). Pour your colored resin into molds. Let them cure for 72 hours, then remove the resin from the mold.
