How to Troubleshoot an EchoStar 4900 Receiver
- 1). Control your EchoStar receiver using the control buttons located on the front panel of the receiver if you lost or damaged your remote control. The receiver control buttons work in the same way as they do on your remote.
- 2). Replace the batteries in your remote control with AAA batteries if your remote control does something unexpected when you press a button on your remote. The batteries may be weak or placed incorrectly in the battery compartment.
- 3). Remove snow and any other debris from your satellite dish if you have no picture on your TV, see only pixels displaying on your TV screen or the picture breaks up. Weather conditions such as heavy cloud cover, snow and driving rain can interfere with the satellite signal transmission. Check the Point Dish and Signal Strength menu on your EchoStar 4900 receiver for a green signal strength bar. If you do not have a green bar, have your satellite dish re-aimed at the satellite by an EchoStar installer.
- 4). Connect your EchoStar receiver output to the correct TV input connection if you see you have a blue TV screen. Locate the connectors on the back panel of the receiver. Connect the receiver's RCA cables in red, white and yellow to the matching RCA plugs on your TV, or connect the S-video and RCA cables in red and white from the receiver to your TV. Another way to make a connection requires connecting a coaxial cable from the TV Set Out on the EchoStar receiver to the input on your TV. For the coaxial cable connection, you must set the switch on your receiver to channel 3 or 4 for satellite reception.
- 5). Select "All Chan" for your active Favorites list if you notice the receiver skips channels you purchased as you scan up or down.
- 6). Call the service center for your EchoStar receiver if you forgot your password. You need your password in order to unlock the receiver. Give the service center representative your name, address, phone number serial identification number of the receiver and your PIN if required.
- 7). Lock Pay-Per-View purchases if you notice someone ordered it without your permission. You cannot cancel Pay-Per-View purchases. To lock it, press the "Menu" button, select "Locks," then use the number pad buttons to enter your password. Press the "Select" button to choose the highlighted "OK," and then select "Lock PPV" and "Yes."
