    • 1). Turn on the computer and insert the Windows XP installation disk.

    • 2). Press any key when prompted by the startup messages to boot from the CD.

    • 3). Press "Enter" to begin the installation.

    • 4). Use the "F8" key to agree to the end-user licensing agreement.

    • 5). Select the partition upon which you would like to install Windows XP. Dells usually contain two partitions--a larger partition and a smaller "recovery" partition. Install Windows XP on the larger of the two.

    • 6). Input the rest of the information when prompted to complete the installation, including your product key and information about your Internet setup. The auto-installer will automatically load the required drivers during the installation process.
