How to Fix a Microsoft Windows NT Startup
- 1). Insert "Disk 1" of the Windows NT boot disk set into the floppy drive of the Windows NT computer. Boot the computer.
- 2). Insert "Disk 2" of the Windows NT boot disk set into the floppy drive of the Windows NT computer when a message appears on the computer screen requesting you to do so.
- 3). Press the "R" key when the boot process pauses. Press the "down" arrow key to highlight each of the four options presented. Clear the "X" next to "Inspect registry files" and "Verify Windows NT system files" by pressing the space bar after selecting those options. Leave "Inspect Boot Sector" and "Inspect startup environment" selected.
- 4). Press the arrow keys to navigate to the "Continue" item, then press the "Enter" key. Press the "S" key, then remove the "Disk 2" floppy disk and insert the storage driver disk if prompted to access the hard disk drives on the system. Press the "Enter" key.
- 5). Insert the "Emergency Repair Disk" in the floppy drive, when requested, and press the "Enter" key. The "Emergency Repair Disk" will scan the drives and rebuild the startup environment.
- 6). Remove the "Emergency Repair Disk" and reboot the computer when instructed to boot the repaired Windows NT operating system.
